As a rural outpost, Pedee serves as home to many and a stopping point in the journey for many more.
There are believers on their way deeper into the wilderness that would not reach their destination if they didn’t find a place of refuge and growth along the way.
We believe that a strong, local church body is central to growing healthy families, establishing a community, and even maintaining a strong local economy. We value time together and enjoy the great variety of people we have in our family.
We are drawn by the Father, saved from sin through Jesus Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and recognize the Bible as authoritative.
Daniel Russell left a position with the Oregon Legislature in 2012 to lead at Pedee Church. He was ordained within the Pacific Conference of the Evangelical Church of North America in 2016. Daniel and his wife Heidi are eager to see believers drawn into a deeper walk with the Lord, children raised up to know Jesus personally, and to see unbelievers welcomed into a family of Christ followers. The Russells love life in the country and good coffee.
The Executive Team are spiritual leaders of the church. They also conduct the business of the church. The members of the team oversee the finances of the organization.
Monthly meetings are where the team members review upcoming events, projects and expenditures, approve policy, and receive a pastors report.
The church is made up of people but there are also buildings and facilities that support the functions of the church. At Pedee Church these are owned and managed by the Church Trustees.
The church building, church grounds, and church parsonage are all maintained by the trustees through the work of volunteers or those that the trustees employ.
In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul writes:
"But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them." - Ephesians 2:4-10 (ESV)
At The Outpost we know church isn't something that you do or a place you go. The Church is who we are.
Ephesians 5:25 (NLT) - For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up His life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word. He did this to present her to Himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault."
At The Outpost, we believe that freedom in Christ is real and available.
Galatians 5:1 (ESV) - For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.
At The Outpost, we believe that sin is destructive and God hates it because it hurts those He loves.
Romans 6:23 (ESV) - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
At The Outpost, God is transforming people into the image of Jesus. We recognize that every good gift is from God, so we celebrate the Gift Giver!
2 Corinthians 3:18 (BSB) And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into His image with intensifying glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 1:30-31 (NLT) - God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God made Him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; He made us pure and holy, and He freed us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, “If you want to boast, boast only about the LORD.”
At The Outpost, we welcome people from the wilderness into family.
Ephesians 2:19-22 (ESV) - So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In Him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.
Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV) - And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

The church in Pedee first began in 1890. In 1959 the current building was dedicated as Memorial Evangelical United Brethren Church of Pedee, Oregon. In 1968 the Evangelical United Brethren Church merged with the Methodist Church and Pedee Church was part of a group of churches that declined to merge and joined other EUBC churches to form the Evangelical Church of North America.
Our congregation is a member of the Evangelical Church.
Our organizational structure and guiding beliefs are outlined in The Discipline.
